Community
Tribals/Forest Produce Gatherers
Location
Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh
Partners
BREDS (Pathapatnam) and ARTIC (Seethamprta)
Introduction
NABARD has been closely associated with tribal development through concessional rates of refinance, general line of credit for tribal development agencies and sustainable livelihoods through various farm related program. As an integral component of NABARD’s Natural Resource Management policy of providing sustainable livelihoods, NABARD laid special emphasis on providing support for holistic development of tribal communities with orchard cultivation as the core element. NABARD is looking for adopting a holistic approach which would help them increase the market linkage by way of developing Farmers’ Producer Organization.
Description
The program will reach 4000 Maa-Thota tribals with the objective of developing self-reliant sustainable producer institutions with the members engaged in Wadi related work. The duration of the program is 1.5 years and will cover area across 70 km radius around Pathapatnam, Melliyaputi, Heeramandlam, Sarvakota and Seethamprta.
Proposed Outcomes
The program will develop 4 producer companies each with 1,000 Maa Thota tribal farmers and other tribal families so that sustainable institutions are established resulting in improved incomes, at least 10% to the tribals.
Project formulation
Intent starts taking meaningful shape only when projects are formulated well, bringing interrelated activities together for effective execution.
From project rationale to interventions to implementation, ALC India formulates robust projects that bring together appropriate people resources to work within the constraints of cost, time and quality. This helps translate perspective and strategy into results, one step at a time.
